About Design at 9th

Design is where our products start. We care about clean, intentional interfaces and the small details that make software feel effortless. Designers here work closely with engineering and product, shipping real screens to real users on Move, Configure My AI, and client work.

Like every role at 9th, design gigs are contract-based and remote. You manage your own time — no mandatory meetings, no set hours. We care about thoughtful work, clear communication, and craft.

Role Details
UI/UX Designer — Web / Mobile App
Intern / Entry-level · Design

As a UI/UX design intern at 9th, you'll help shape how people experience our products. You'll take product ideas from rough concept to polished, usable interface — designing wireframes, mockups, and prototypes for both responsive web and native-feeling mobile apps. This is hands-on work on live products, not busywork: what you design gets built.

What you'll do
  • Design wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes for web and mobile app features
  • Translate product requirements and user problems into clear, intuitive interface flows
  • Build and maintain reusable UI components and contribute to our design patterns
  • Apply visual hierarchy, spacing, type, and color to keep interfaces clean and accessible
  • Collaborate async with engineering to hand off designs and refine implementation details
  • Incorporate feedback quickly and iterate toward the simplest solution that works
What we're looking for
  • A portfolio, coursework, or personal projects showing UI/UX thinking (any format is fine)
  • Working knowledge of a design tool such as Figma (preferred), Sketch, or Adobe XD
  • A sense for layout, typography, and visual detail — and the humility to refine it
  • Clear written communication; you can explain a design decision without a meeting
  • Self-direction — you can manage your own time and move work forward independently
  • Curiosity about how interfaces get built for both web and mobile
Nice to have
  • Familiarity with responsive / mobile-first design and basic accessibility principles
  • Exposure to HTML/CSS or an understanding of how designs become code
  • Interest in calendars, community tools, or AI products (Move & Configure My AI)
  • Prototyping, micro-interaction, or basic motion design experience
