About This Role

Working at 9th means you manage yourself. We don't do mandatory meetings, set hours, or micromanagement. What we do care about is thoughtful outreach, clear communication, and genuine results.

This is a contract position — designed to coexist with other work, a day job, or personal commitments. At a maximum of 12 hours per pay period, you're not giving up your life. You're adding a focused, commission-driven revenue stream.

We provide the products, tools, lead data, and training. You bring the initiative and the people skills.

Team Roles

Three contract roles are available. Each serves a distinct function in the sales funnel. The rate shown for each is a starting point — your hourly is up for negotiation by you as the candidate.

Sales Development Rep (SDR)
Starting at $18/hr · negotiable · 15% commission

Top-of-funnel focus. SDRs handle outreach, lead qualification, and booking demos. You're the first point of contact for prospective users.

  • Research and identify ideal customer profiles for both products
  • Conduct outbound outreach via email and LinkedIn
  • Qualify inbound leads from 9th's marketing channels
  • Schedule demos and hand off to Account Executives
  • Log all activity in the shared CRM
Account Executive (AE)
Starting at $20/hr · negotiable · 20% commission

Full-cycle ownership. AEs run demos, follow up with prospects, and close free-to-paid conversions and plan upgrades.

  • Run product demos via Loom or live video call
  • Build and send follow-up outreach and proposals
  • Manage prospects through the pipeline to close
  • Identify upgrade opportunities from free and Basic plan users
  • Relay product feedback to the 9th team
Growth & Community Rep
Starting at $22/hr · negotiable · 25% commission

Niche and vertical growth focus. Community Reps work with specific audiences — nonprofits, event organizers, agencies — to develop partnerships and referral pipelines.

  • Identify and engage niche communities and partner organizations
  • Represent 9th products in relevant online communities
  • Develop referral and affiliate relationships
  • Build community-specific messaging and outreach
  • Drive group and enterprise leads for Move Spaces and Configure My AI
Hours & Schedule

We cap active sales time at 12 hours per bi-weekly pay period. That's roughly an hour on a handful of weekdays, or a focused block on a weekend morning. The schedule is yours — there are no required check-ins, no synchronous standups, and no mandatory availability windows.

A typical day
  • 1
Morning block — 30 to 45 minutes Review your CRM queue. Check for inbound leads provided by 9th. Send 3–5 personalized outreach messages or follow-ups on active prospects.
  • 2
Demo or discovery call — 20 to 30 minutes (if scheduled) Walk a prospect through Move or Configure My AI. This can be a live Zoom call or a recorded Loom video sent async. No deck required — the product does the work.
  • 3
Wrap-up — 15 minutes Log completed activity in the CRM. Note each prospect's status, next step, and any relevant context. Submit a brief weekly note in the team channel.

Our philosophy: This role is designed to sit alongside your existing work or commitments — not compete with them. We built 9th as a bootstrap studio and believe work should fit your life, not the other way around.

Compensation

Every rate below is a starting point — the final hourly is up for negotiation by you as the candidate, based on your experience and scope. All rates are competitive with remote tech sales industry standards for part-time contract work. Pay is bi-weekly — base hours and commission are paid together in the same transfer.

Role Starting Rate Commission Max Hrs / Period Est. Base / Period
SDR From $18 / hr 15% 12 hrs ~$216
Account Executive From $20 / hr 20% 12 hrs ~$240
Growth & Community Rep From $22 / hr 25% 12 hrs ~$264

Rates are negotiable: The hourly figures above are where each role starts. Your actual rate is settled with you during onboarding — nothing is fixed. Initial contracts run 3 months, and at renewal rate, hours, and commission structure are all open for renegotiation. Demonstrated performance is the primary factor.

What You'll Sell

Two subscription-based products with clear pricing, real utility, and a growing user base. You'll be selling to people who have an actual problem these products solve.

Move

Configure My AI
configuremyai.com

Configure My AI lets individuals and teams build personalized AI experiences — custom system prompts, training data uploads, embeddable chat widgets, and API endpoints — across OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and other providers. It solves the problem every AI user has: the model forgets your preferences every session.

Plans
PlanPriceKey featuresYour commission

Pro$80/moUnlimited everything + embed widgets$12.00 – $20.00

  • Consultants and freelancers using AI daily
  • SaaS founders who want to embed AI in their product
  • Marketing and customer support teams
  • Small businesses wanting branded AI chat on their website

Recurring commission note: Configure My AI is a monthly subscription. Each month a prospect you closed stays on Pro, that's $80 recurring — and your commission is paid on the first month of every new subscriber you bring in.

Sales Process

The process is the same for both products. It's been designed to fit inside your 12-hour allotment without waste. 9th provides the inputs; you work the funnel.

What 9th provides each period
Lead lists

Refreshed inbound leads from product sign-ups, marketing campaigns, and community channels. Typically 20–50 qualified contacts per rep per period.

CRM access

Shared CRM with pre-loaded prospect profiles, pipeline stages, and activity tracking. All tools provided — no software cost to you.

Sales assets

Email templates, demo scripts, Loom walkthrough recordings, one-pagers, and product screenshots — ready to use or personalize.

Product access

Full accounts on both Move and Configure My AI. Async video product training plus Slack access to the 9th product team for questions.

4-step process — both products
  • 1
Identify and review prospects Pull from the 9th-provided lead list. Review each contact's profile and note their most likely use case before reaching out. Prioritize warm leads (free plan users, inbound inquiries) over cold outreach.
  • 2
Personalized outreach Send an intro via email or LinkedIn that names their specific pain point. Lead with the problem, not the product. Use provided templates as a starting point — personalization is the difference. 3–5 per session.
  • 3
Demo — async or live Share a Loom walkthrough (ideal for async) or schedule a 20-minute live call. Let the product do the work — it sells itself once someone sees it in context. Focus on their pain, not a feature list.
  • 4
Close or escalate Guide free users to Pro. For Configure My AI, start prospects on Basic and follow up after 2 weeks to upgrade to Pro. Enterprise leads ($8,000 Move license) are flagged to the 9th team for direct close — you still earn commission.

How tracking works
  • Every lead you contact is tagged with your rep ID in the CRM at first outreach
  • When a prospect converts to a paid plan, the CRM attributes the close to your record automatically
  • You receive an itemized commission statement each period listing each close and amount
  • Referrals that convert after your pay period still credit to you for 30 days post-outreach
  • Enterprise deals are manually confirmed with the 9th team before commission is paid
  • Commission rates are reviewed at contract renewal — merit-based increases are available
